These 2013 Fantasy Baseball 2B Rankings might save your life someday. OK, well, maybe not really. But they could be important for the life of your Fantasy Baseball team as you enter the 2013 season. And normally, second base is considered one of the weakest positions in the game.
It wasn’t too long ago (well, about 10 or 11 years ago), when the position was loaded with guys like Alfonso Soriano, Bret Boone and Jeff Kent. But that was back when things were a little “juicier.” In 2002, Boone hit 24 homers and knocked in 107 RBI. Soriano hit 39 homers, with 102 RBI and a league-high 41 steals. Kent posted 37 homers and 108 RBI.
By comparison, Robinson Cano was easily the best Fantasy second baseman of 2012, and he’s coming off a season in which he 33 homers, with 94 RBI.
My, how things have changed.
As a matter of fact, there wasn’t one player at this position with 100 RBI, and only two had more than 80. Heck, there have been only five 100-RBI seasons in the past five seasons at this position.
Changes you’ll want to track:
As you can see, the talent dropoff is rather dramatic in the 2013 Fantasy Baseball 2B Rankings after the top guys and the middle-of-the-road felllas are gone. While having a great second baseman can be a boon to your team, you’re going to have to use a relatively high draft pick to get one. If not, just figure your second baseman will likely be one of your worst players this season.

So Josh Rutledge is 29th in 2b with Espinosa 15th and Scutaro 18th but at SS, Scutaro is behind Rutledge and Espinosa is only one ahead? Mistake?
Yep, thanks for catching. Not only was that a screwup, but I had the wrong code in for the rankings widget on top of it. Thanks for commenting, Ryan!
I think I would bump Keppinger up to at least 18th based on position eligibility and AB's over players you have above him
