Last week, I was asked to provide my top-five Fantasy quarterbacks for the rest of the season, so I thought I’d share it here before we get into the Week 6 QB rankings.
While Andrew Luck has the most Fantasy points, I still considered Peyton Manning to be the top Fantasy QB going forward. He came through for me against the Cardinals with a career game (479 passing yards and four touchdowns), and nobody has the weapons he does in the passing game. It’s time to start considering him as the greatest Fantasy quarterback of all-time.
I’m trying to think of who would even be in second place, and I’m struggling. Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre both definitely get consideration.
Speaking of which, Rodgers’ 12 passing touchdowns has only been surpassed by Manning, and Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb will give Julio Jones and Roddy White a battle for the top WR duo this season. Rodgers is my No. 2 for rest-of-season rankings for quarterbacks.
I don’t think there’s any doubt that Luck has been the best Fantasy quarterback so far, and I had pimped him out before the season started as the only QB I think that will force his way into the top-three at the position for next year.
Drew Brees hasn’t had an awesome season (by his usual standards), with just nine touchdowns now, through five games. His 1,574 passing yards, however, ranks third in the league.
Matt Ryan beat out Philip Rivers for the fifth spot, as he has just one bad game this season. This offense is totally set up for his Fantasy success.
Among the biggest surprises so far at this position, you have to give Jay Cutler a lot of credit, but then you remember he’s likely going to be hurt for three or four weeks at some point in the coming months. That’s why he was ranked lower than where he’s currently producing. Cutler is currently third among QBs, behind Luck and Rivers, in Fantasy scoring.
Cam Newton, Nick Foles, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and Robert Griffin III have been major disappointments, even though some of them can blame injuries for that.
