NFL Week 9 Fantasy Football Picks Powered by FanPicks

Jason Witten, 2013 Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings

We move into Week 9 of the NFL regular season and it’s time to deliver the one week fantasy football at FanPicks.com

The Chicago Bears are off to the road to battle the San Diego Chargers. San Diego is not serious about establishing a running game. Their whole offense is the right arm of Phillip Rivers. They are the top passing team in the NFL as they throw for 336 yards per game. Those who tuned into the Bears and Vikings game last week saw a weak Chicago secondary giving up big plays at the most critical point of their game last week.

Chicago failed to hold a seven point fourth quarter lead by giving up ten points in the final minutes in defeat. Big passing plays by Minnesota were the difference. Look for San Diego to exploit this and for Phillip Rivers to have a big game on Monday night.

Rivers is completing nearly 70% of his passes for 2753 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven picks. He has thrown for over 300 yards in five straight games. This is one of those AFC versus NFC matchups so the Bears will not be familiar with the San Diego formations and routes that their receivers will run.

Play on Phillip Rivers (Chargers QB)

The New York Jets return home after an awful defensive performance last week against the Oakland Raiders. The Jets lost that game 34-20 as they allowed Derek Carr to throw for 333 yards and four touchdowns. Jacksonville will be the Jets opponents. Quarterback Blake Bortles is not an accurate passer as his time may be running out as a starting quarterback in this league once the season ends. Bortles completes just 55.7% of his throws. Look for the Jets to bounce back with a huge defensive effort after last week’s embarrassing performance. They are back home and a better unit that showed up last week at Oakland. The team is still ranked third in the NFL in total defense by giving up 307 yards per game.

The Oakland Raiders makes the long cross-country trip for an early game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Raiders have won two straight. That loss at Chicago still stings the team. Ben Roethlisberger makes his second start after returning from injury. Look for Big Ben to exploit the Oakland Raiders poor pass defense that gives up 302 yards per game. Antonio Brown figures to have a huge game on Sunday. He leads the Steelers with 52 catches for 718 yards and three touchdowns. With Roethlisberger healthy in Week 1 and 2 of the season Brown combined for 18 catches for 328 yards with two touchdowns.

Play on Antonio Browns (Steelers WR)

The Denver Broncos off their great defensive effort last week at home to Green Bay will be traveling to face the Indianapolis Colts. Peyton Manning is starting to show improvement with his passing. The running game is starting to click as well for the club. Ronnie Hillman leads the team with 85 carries for 383 yards and four touchdowns. He had two rushing touchdowns last week in the win to Green Bay. With a career best 4.5 yards per run attempt look for Hillman to put up some good numbers on the Colts defense.

Play on Ronnie Hillman (Broncos RB)

The Dallas Cowboys will be home to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night football. Dallas is 0-5 without Tony Romo under center but still just one game out of first place in the NFC East division. We are going to expect Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassell to keep it safe to avoid turnovers and target Jason Witten in the passing game.
