Consider These Week 5 Sleepers

Jason Avant, Week 5 Sleepers

Before we get into these Week 5 sleepers, I’m not above taking a look at how I did last week.

I finally called a QB that had a good game. After lighting up Dallas, Philip Rivers is having pretty good year. As a matter of fact, I’m starting him this weekend over Colin Kaepernick. Especially since Kaep faces Houston and Rivers has the Raiders.

I went .500 on my running backs. Da’Rel Scott didn’t do squat against the Chiefs, but neither did any of the other Giants. Maybe they are that bad …

However, Le’Veon Bell had a solid game for the Steelers with a couple of TDs.

My wide receivers did fair to middling. (Does anyone say that anymore?) Ryan Broyles was a no-show for the Lions and Leonard Hankerson had four catches for the Skins. #Yikes

I basically punted on my TE for the week and claimed either Fred Davis or Jordan Reed would have a good game for the Redskins. Neither did anything.

Danny Woodhead lit it up for the Chargers. Expect him to do well again this weekend against Oakland. He will start at RB for me, while Adrian Peterson is on his bye week.

Week 5 Sleepers

Terrelle Pryor, QB, Oakland

It sounds like Pryor will be back in the shotgun for the Raiders this weekend.

The Chargers have given up some points to QBs this year. Expect Pryor to have a good weekend.

Isaiah Pead, RB, St. Louis

A couple of weeks ago, Pead played 42 snaps for the Rams. Last week, Jeff Fisher doesn’t even activate him. I have no idea what that was about.

Pead will be my wildcard for the week. Keep an eye on him to see if he is on the 53-man roster for Sunday. I’m still hanging on to him.

Dexter McCluster, RB, Kansas City

Wait … McCluster is a slot receiver for the Chiefs. But he still has his RB designation from last year.

He’s getting more and more touches and could be a good replacement for a bye week at RB or a flex guy.

Jason Avant, WR, Philadelphia

Time to pile on the Giants. This is basically a money grab at this point because somebody from the Eagles is going to torch the awful Giants defense.

Avant has as good a chance as anyone, especially if the Giants decide to try and focus on shutting down DeSean Jackson.

Vincent Brown, WR, San Diego

The Chargers have put WR Malcom Floyd on injured reserve. This will free up Brown to take over as the No. 2 guy in San Diego.

The Chargers face a weak defense in Oakland this weekend. Look for Rivers to stay hot and for Brown to have a good game, and a good year.

Mychal Rivera, TE, Oakland

I picked up Rivera last weekend to fill Greg Olsen’s spot on my roster. He had a TD and a couple of catches.

This week could be another decent week for Rivera if you are in a pinch at TE and San Diego’s defense isn’t exactly rock solid.
