Game 1 will feature the New England Patriots at home against the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:35PM Eastern Time on CBS TV.

This Kansas City team doesn’t impress much on the offensive side of the football. The team is 30th and last in the NFL in passing yardage as they throw for 203.4 yards per game. Quarterback Alex Smith has not thrown for greater than 191 yards in his past six games. Surprisingly the team has won all six of those games with Smith passing for nine touchdowns in that span.

The Patriots have struggled down the stretch as they were hit with major injuries to their running back and wide receiver position. They lose their last two games of the regular season which cost them home field advantage for the entire AFC playoffs should Denver win on Sunday. They have scored a total of 30 points over their final two games.

The good news  is they are getting healthy as Julian Edelman was upgraded to probable for Saturday.

The bye week came at the right time for the Patriots. The offensive line for New England has been rested and can work the weight room to make the unit stronger at the line of scrimmage.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski leads receivers with 72 catches for 1176 yards with 11 touchdowns. Tom Brady trusts Gronkowski and is heavily targeted even though the competition knows that he still comes through for fantasy football GM’s.

The NFC Divisional Round game for Saturday has the Arizona Cardinals hosting the Green Bay Packers at 8:15PM Eastern Time on NBC TV.

These teams met in the regular season not too long ago on December 27th with Arizona earning the 38-8 victory in their home stadium. The Cardinals had a strong defensive performance in the victory by sacking Aaron Rodgers nine times. Arizona is coming off the bye week as the second seed while the Packers were sent on the road on Sunday in a Wildcard win at the Washington Redskins.

Arizona sports the top offense in the NFL as the team gains 408 yards per game. They are the second best passing team in the league behind a healthy Carson Palmer. Palmer has passed for a career high 4671 yards and his 35 touchdown throws this year is also a career high. He had 265 yards passing with two touchdowns on the Packers in Week 16. Palmer has thrown for multiple touchdown throws in seven of his past ten games.

The Arizona Cardinals have a dynamic passing attack with three very good receivers running patterns. Larry Fitzgerald will get heavy attention and that opens up for big play wide out John Brown to make plays in the passing game. Brown has 65 catches for 1003 and seven touchdowns. He is averaging an impressive 15.4 yards per catch average.

This game figures to be a high scoring affair. It is being played in a climate controlled venue in Glendale Arizona while the other venues could impact offensive performance in Carolina, New England and Denver. Cardinal’s placekicker Chandler Catanzaro has been good in 28 of 31 field goal attempts. Green Bay’s defense has been good in the red zone this year so expect Catanzaro to get plenty of field goal opportunities here.
