As I sat down and cranked out these Week 1 lineup rankings I shed a tear. I openly wept for the demise of my offseason rankings, where I dug deep, churned and stressed over.
I cried for the multitudes of mock drafts that are meaningless now.
I was sullen over the fact that – I don’t have any drafts to do.
Then … I remembered … how awesome playing Daily Fantasy Football is.
(Check out my articles, as well as several of my colleagues over at DFSEdge.com. You can learn how to play Daily Fantasy Football, as well as get free entry into a ton of games with Week 1 “free rolls” at various DFS sites.)
DFSEdge also provides an awesome tool that ranks players by Week 1 projections, and lists their salaries for each DFS site. You can sort by dollars-per-projected points to see which players are the best bargains at each position, on each site!
You can use that tool and those articles to challenge me in a free personal game and win $5 on DraftDay.com! They put up $5 for the winner, and you don’t have to deposit anything! If you beat me fair and square, they give you $5. And if I beat you, you don’t lose anything. Nice!
Once I got done crying, I realized how awesome today is – and this week. We’re all undefeated, tied for the first spot in our leagues. Let’s get right to our Week 1 rankings and see if we can’t keep you undefeated for Week 2.
One interesting thing I like to do before working on my rankings, is just to take a peek at what Vegas thinks.
There’s no doubt that the Falcons/Saints matchup in New Orleans is expected to be a shootout. Vegas has the over-under line set at 54 points, which is the highest on the week.
But it’s also interesting to note that three other games are expected to eclipse the 50-point mark: Packers/49ers (50.5), Eagles/Redskins (51) and Patriots/Bills (53). Heck, there are even three more games at the 49-point mark: Ravens/Broncos (49.5), Raiders/Colts (49) and Giants/Cowboys (49).
The lowest-scoring (expected) games are the Cardinals/Rams (40.5) and Chiefs/Jaguars (40.5).
And you’ll see that our rankings are relatively right in line with all of these lines, expect for the fact I like Jamaal Charles to have a huge opening week against the Jaguars, who allowed the third-most rushing yards per game last season, as well as over one rushing TD per game.
Good luck, this week – and this season! Hopefully, these Week 1 lineup rankings set you on the right course! Feel free to comment below with some players you expect to break out in Week 1!
