I think we can all agree to one conclusion after Week 12’s action: Odell Beckham Jr. is a beast. We witnessed him make the best catch I’ve personally ever seen. He grabbed the ball out of mid-air with just three fingers, and hauled it in for a TD, all while being interfered with; on his way to an outstanding 26 fantasy points in standard leagues.
On a fantasy note, in most leagues there are just two games left until the fantasy playoffs, and it’s no longer about the future: teams have to win now. Whether you are fighting for a playoff spot, or locking up the first seed, it is very important to snag these guys off waivers to fill some holes on your roster down the stretch.
However, always remember to not cut anyone of too significance, especially at this point in the season. It could end up really hurting you in the long run. Only cut players that have been struggling for a long period of time, not for just a week or two.
Week 13 Waiver Wire
We used ownership percentages from CBSSports.com
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami
Available in 25% of CBS Leagues
That 25% number is very low in CBS leagues, as I know Tannehill is available in a lot more of Yahoo and ESPN leagues. Tannehill has been very productive lately, as he has over 20 fantasy points in his last two games, including 32 fantasy points this past week. He has a very favorable upcoming schedule, as Tannehill gets plus matchups with the Jets, Ravens, and Patriots. If you are an owner of struggling Matthew Stafford or Colin Kaepernick, Tannehill could be a solution.
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Minnesota
Available in 82% of CBS Leagues
Bridgewater finally emerged to fantasy relevance last week, as he threw for 210 yards and two TDs against the Packers on Sunday. Not only was he good through the air, but Teddy also added 32 rushing yards on the ground. Bridgewater is another guy who has good matchups upcoming, as he faces off with Carolina and the Jets over the next two weeks. There have been many quarterbacks that have been fantasy busts this season, and if you’re a victim, then Bridgewater could be a short-term answer to your problem.
Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland
Available in 72% of CBS Leagues
Murray exploded on National TV last Thursday, carrying the ball just 4 times for 112 yards and two TDs, before he left with injury. Fortunately, his injury is not looked at as serious, and he should go through protocol to see if he’ll play next week. Assuming that he is healthy, Murray should be the Raiders’ premier running back from this point, as we have yet to see any significant production from veterans Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden. Murray showed explosiveness that the Raiders haven’t seen since the Bo Jackson days, and in a lost season, the Raiders should look to Murray to bring excitement to this team. That being said, Murray should be on your roster, especially with the running back position very thin this season.
LeGarrette Blount, RB, New England
Available in 54% of CBS Leagues
Blount signed with the Patriots last week, after being released by Pittsburgh, and he made an immediate impact on Sunday. He carried the ball a team high 12 times for 78 yards and 2 TDs, making Week 11’s hero Jonas Gray an after thought. Granted, Gray was benched due to tardiness to practice earlier in the week, and he should be more involved next week. However, Blount had a great year with the Patriots last year, and there is no reason why he can’t repeat that success over the next couple of weeks. Especially in a prolific offense like the Pats, Blount should be on rosters in all leagues.
Charles Johnson, WR, Minnesota
Available in 98% of CBS Leagues
Johnson put together another productive game on Sunday, catching 3 balls for 52 yards and a TD. However, his more impressive stat of the day was the 11 targets he accumulated from Teddy Bridgewater. That is the 2nd straight game where Johnson has saw at least 7 targets, and he is quietly becoming one of Bridgewater’s favorite targets. To add, Johnson is an athletic freak, standing at 6’2, and has an outstanding vertical. Johnson had been waiting for his time to come in the NFL and it finally has. And as long as he continues to be productive in fantasy, he should be picked up off of waivers.
John Brown, WR, Arizona
Available in 37% of CBS Leagues
Brown has really emerged in his rookie season with the Cardinals, as he overtaken Michael Floyd as the second option in the Arizona passing game. Brown saw a team high 5 targets this week and for the 2nd straight week, led the Cardinals in receiving. He continues to be a valuable asset for the Cardinals, as Brown is a reliable guy for Drew Stanton, and has at least 60 receiving yards in 4 out of his last 5 games. Especially in PPR formats, I think John Brown deserves a roster spot.
Andrew Hawkins, WR, Cleveland
Available in 41% of CBS Leagues
I don’t know why everyone keeps over looking Andrew Hawkins, as he has been a PPR beast. Hawkins has 21 catches over his last 4 games, and has gone for at least 88 receiving yards in 4 out of his last 5 games. And two of those games include a TD. Josh Gordon coming back actually helped Hawkins, as it opened things up for him Sunday to catch 5 balls for 93 yards. He continues to be a key part of this Browns’ offense, and he should without doubt be a part of your fantasy team, too.
Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnesota
Available in 52% of CBS Leagues
Rudolph let everybody down last week against the Bears, but that was a game in which Rudolph was limited, just returning from his long absence due to injury. This past week, Rudolph saw an increased role, catching 3 of his 5 targets for 50 yards, which was 2nd in receiving on his team. Rudolph should see his role return back to how it was before injury, and with that he has some plus matchups coming up. Rudolph gets to face off with the Panthers, Jets, and Lions upcoming, all teams that have struggled against opposing tight ends this season. The tight end position in fantasy has been very thin this season, so I’d definitely pick up Rudolph if you’re hurting there.
Players to keep an eye on at each position
QB: Alex Smith (KC, 51% owned), Zach Mettenberger (TEN, 10%)
RB: Andre Williams (NYG, 54%), Dan Herron (IND, 37%)
WR: Stedman Bailey (STL, 0%), Justin Hunter (TEN, 40%), James Jones (OAK, 40%)
TE: Timothy Wright (NE, 27%)
