Week 6 Waiver Wire

It’s that time of week again! Coming off of Week 5, we saw many new players emerge to Fantasy relevance, and show great performances this weekend. As you make your Week 6 waiver wire picks, it’s time to think whom you will submit a claim for.

I am here to help, as I’ll give you my advice on which players to snag from waivers this week. However, do NOT cut anyone of significance, because it might end up costing you. Only cut players that have not produced all season long, and that do not have high draft status.

The teams on a bye week this week are the Kansas City Chiefs, and the New Orleans Saints, so keep that in mind. If you have players from the Chiefs or Saints, you may be in need of a player from the waiver wire, so pay extra attention to this column. Lets get started.

Week 5 Waiver Wire

We used ownership percentages for CBSSports.com Leagues

Austin Davis, QB, St. Louis

Available in 90% of CBS Leagues

Davis has been a pleasant fantasy surprise, putting up 27 and 32 fantasy points in his last two weeks. He has taken advantage of his good matchups, and the Rams’ have thrown the ball a lot, due to them trailing in games. Although Davis faces off against Seattle in Week 7, his other upcoming matchups are quite favorable and Davis could continue to produce well. With upcoming bye-weeks for quarterbacks like Nick Foles, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, and Colin Kaepernick, Davis could be a good replacement, and is a good add off of waivers this week.

Branden Oliver, RB, San Diego

Available in 87% of CBS Leagues

Oliver looks like the man now in the Chargers’ backfield, with Donald Brown injured, and struggling. Oliver went off on Sunday, rushing for 114 yards and a TD on 19 carries, as well as 4 receptions for 64 yards and a TD. He looks like a poor mans Darren Sproles, and should be the lead back for the Chargers now, until Ryan Mathews’ returns from injury. Oliver has some upcoming matchups that are very favorable, including Oakland next week. Oliver could also serve as another bye-week replacement for your starters, and I’d consider him a must-add this week.

Louis Murphy, WR, Tampa Bay

Available in 94% of CBS Leagues

Since being signed by the Bucs’, Murphy has produced very well and been a key target for Mike Glennon. Murphy has a TD in each of his last two games, and has accumulated 18 targets from Glennon over his last two weeks. With the injury to Mike Evans, Glennon should continue to look Murphy’s way with teams clueing in on Vincent Jackson. Murphy, surprisingly, is a very good addition off the waiver wire this week.

Tim Wright, TE, New England

Available in 92% of CBS Leagues

Wright had his breakout game on Sunday night, catching 5 balls for 85 yards and a TD against the Bengals. This isn’t just a fluke, because Wright was brought in specifically to play a key role for the Patriots this season. If you remember, Aaron Hernandez was a top 5-fantasy tight end when he was with the Pats’ and complimented Rob Gronkowski very well. The Patriots were known for having the scary two-headed tight-end monster, and they acquired Wright because they want to go back to that. They traded star OL Logan Mankins for Wright, because they want him to replace Aaron Hernandez (without the legal issues of course). Wrights’ role should continue to grow, and he could turn into a top-10 fantasy tight end from what I saw. He is a must add in all leagues.

Ronnie Hillman, RB, Denver

Available in 89% of CBS Leagues

News just emerged that Montee Ball is expected to miss at least two weeks due to injury, which opens up the door for Hillman. C.J. Anderson was inactive last week, so when Ball went down it was Hillmans’ job, and he did very well. Hillman ran the ball 15 times for 64 yards. The Broncos’ offense is so high scoring and efficient, any member you can get is a surplus, especially when it’s the starting running back; which Hillman will be the next couple of weeks. Especially if you own Montee Ball, Hillman is certainly worth a roster spot.
